My coaching page has information about the programmes I offer and what they include. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please get in touch.
I will help you towards a non-regional British English accent, sometimes called Standard Southern English. This is my own accent and the one I specialise in coaching. I can also show you how this accent differs from a “General American” accent or other British accents.
At the beginning of your programme, we will decide on the most useful elements to focus on that will make the most impact.
That’s absolutely fine! My aim is to help you be better understood and achieve whatever aims you have set yourself. We can concentrate on just making your speech clear and engaging.
As you progress, you may find that experimenting with new sounds starts to feel comfortable – even enjoyable! Some of my clients have experienced this and discover a way of adding to their identity, rather than losing it. The important thing to remember is that you are always in charge of the direction we take – not the other way around.
This depends on your starting point and varies from person to person, but the truth is – it is entirely up to you, what you want to achieve and how committed to the process you are. Changing the way you speak is like changing any new habit. It takes time! So, the best way to handle it is to enjoy the process. I’ll be there with you throughout, and we’ll celebrate the moments when things start to click.
It is absolutely possible (at any age!), but it requires a lot of dedication and commitment and very few people reach this point in any language. It is good to ask yourself how important this really is to you and what difference it would make. Some people do it for fun, but if not, it can put a lot of unnecessary pressure on you. (I can help you make sense of your goals in a one-off session or at the start of a programme, if this is something you need to talk through first.)
You need to have an advanced level of English.
I am a qualified English teacher and have many years of experience, so yes – I am able to help with language questions that might come up if you want me to. As a Neurolanguage Coach, I can also help you figure out how to improve your language skills if necessary.
However, our sessions won’t be about whether or not you know your English grammar and all the phrasal verbs perfectly. We will be focusing on communication. In other words, how you connect to your listener.
If you have a particular reason for wanting to modify your own accent, then please get in touch for a chat.
Yes. I specialise in accent coaching for non-native speaking actors and performers who need to speak or sing in a British or American accent. Single sessions are available for actors preparing for auditions or specific roles. Please get in touch to discuss.
I am afraid not. I only work with adults. Most of my clients are working professionals.
Traditionally, a teacher’s style is more didactic, which means that your role in the learning process is more passive. They tell you what to do – you do it.
Research in neuroscience has shown that people learn best when actively and happily engaged in the learning process. As a certified and accredited Neurolanguage® Coach, I use techniques to make sure that you are in the driving seat and enjoying yourself along the way.
